General FAQs
Eveything from pre-booking to accessability, all answered here.
What types of payment do you accept?
- We accept VISA, Mastercard, AMEX and Interac debit and cash.
- Note: We may not be able to provide change for bills larger than $50.00
How long does it take to get a cab in Sudbury?
- Sudbury’s a big place, the largest city by area in Ontario, in fact. This means we have a lot of ground to cover.
- Although we do our very best to estimate our arrival times unpredictable factors such as weather, traffic conditions and special events or holidays can make it difficult to be precise.
- Typically, our busiest times are between the hours of 7:00 AM to 9 AM and 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday as well as 10 PM to 3 AM Friday and Saturday; during these times wait times can vary quite a bit depending on your location and our availability.
- Outside of these times, you can expect to wait no longer than 20 minutes anywhere within the core of the city.
Do you recommend booking in advance?
- We happily take bookings for any trip, no matter the length. We do make every effort to attend to bookings at their specified time but weather, traffic conditions and special events can sometimes cause delays.
- Note: We cannot accept bookings during some special events, holidays or between the hours of 10:00 PM and 3:00 AM Wednesday to Saturday.
Do you have wheelchair-accessible vehicles?
Yes we do! Please call in advance to book, so we can ensure our accessible vehicles are available for your trip.
How much does a taxi cost?
- Taxi fare is based on the distance travelled and the time it takes to get there.
- $4.50 for the first 78 meters.
- $0.25 for every 78 meters thereafter (This equates to $3.20 per km).
- $48.00 per hour of waiting time ($0.80 a minute).
- $150.00 cleaning fee (If required).
How do you set your prices?
The rates for distance and time are established by the City of Greater Sudbury through the Vehicle for Hire Bylaw (2016-145). The chart below illustrates how a typical fare is divided by all the costs of a taxicab operation.
- 13% HST
- 35% Driver commission
- 12% Fuel costs
- 6% Commercial insurance costs
- 15% Administrative, mechanical and dispatch staff
- 8% Employee insurance and source deductions (WSIB, CPP, EI, EHT)
- 2% Phone, internet and technology services
- 6% Vehicle maintenance and replacement
- 3% Net profit before taxes
Do you offer any discounts or flat rates?
The Vehicle for Hire Bylaw precludes us from providing rates that differ from the established ones described above. This practice ensures transparency and consistency for customers and a fairer market for operators.
We are, however, able to offer flat rates for trips over 35 kilometers or outside the city limits. If you’re planning to take a taxi out of town, give us a call and we can provide a quote.
Also, for organizations looking to open an account and enter into a service agreement we are able to develop customized rates. If you’re looking for a reliable and professional transportation provider please give us a call.
